below is an excerpt of ms ho's letter to 4b3. i have bolded the words that particularly apply to me: "Regardless of how well or badly you have done in the past, they don't matter anymore. what you can do now is to make a difference in the days to come. be positive in your attitude, keep your focus on what you set to achieve, discipline yourself to complete the race no matter how tough it may be, do your part in preparing yourself fully for the exam, then commit your ways to God and let Him bless you with what you deserve. you reap what you sow- you may sow with tears, but you will reap in joy!" yup. prelims suck and much as i'd like to say HECK CARE, LETS JUST GET THIS OVER AND DONE WITH! i can't. i won't. i'm trying to just trust God, to know that all things work together for good. i tell you, i CRAVE for the day where prelims finish, i really do! ROARS! ms ho was really funny today. me: ay ms ho ms ho! MH: WHAT! wah you AY me ah! me: haha no lah.. eh can i ask you for a favour? MH: CAN.. what you want, vanilla or chocolate? HA. HA. HA. and it goes on. TMR IS WILDER'S BIRTHDAY! happy 17th bday my dear!(O: you rock! and your present awaits you.. tmr.. for now it's BIO TIME (sigh)
today over dinner my dad and i were having a debate over dinner. the topic: if pringles causes cancer or not. i found out something new about my dad. He wants what flower at his funeral? CACTI.oh my tian, i was just APPALLED! i couldn't speak for about 1 minute. then i started laughing and laughing, and i asked my dad why. "well, dear. i like cacti..." HAHAHAHAAHAH oh yes. there is a hole in my finger. because i was trying to play the guitar today, and then a bubble formed on my finger, and i peeled it. so now there's a hole. it hurts. i hope it heals by tmr, or Ms Tsien Jiuan Jiuan is going to get a nasty performance from me. anyway, it has been a good day (other than the finger). i dug up this book from the cupboard in my living room. it's "The Positive Bible". i think it's rather nice, there's lots of really cool verses in there. ---------------------------- All to Jesus I surrender All to Him I freely give; I will ever love and trust Him, In his presence daily live. I surrender all, I surrender all; All to thee, my blessed Savior, I surrender all. All to Jesus I surrender, Humbly at His feet I bow, Worldly pleasures all forsaken, Take me Jesus, take me now. I surrender all, I surrender all; All to thee, my blessed Savior, I surrender all.
"My soul, wait only upon God; for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; i shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.Trust in Him at all times; people, pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us." Psalm 62:5-8 Something that doesn't come easy for me in my own walk with God is, i suppose, submission. Some people say i'm a control freak; i don't really think that is true. However, on thing which i really hate is venturing into the unknown... i am strongly change averse. (i am just going to DIE when i go to jc. probably.) i love predictable stuff. i love knowing what i'm eating, where i'm going, how my hair will look BEFORE i cut it (though thats not so possible.) anyway, i'm really trying to learn how to make myself completely available to Him, so that He may use me in whatever way He wants to. i really want to. but yet, it is just so difficult. anyway, a very dear friend said in a letter today: "I kind of like and hate the prelims. Hate cos we have to study for it, but liking it cos this is one time i'm really doing it for God... I'm taking the leap of faith and just putting each paper i sit for into His hands. Strangely, i feel peace." i think it takes alot of guts to let go, and give it all to Him. i'm still trying. anyway, to this friend, i take my hat off to you. thank you sharing your thoughts with me. they have somehow made me think about things that perhaps i should have been thinking about but wasn't. yeah. also, tessa and dee's emails are really encouraging. thanks guys(O: you really made my day. with that said, i leave you with a verse: psalm 34:17- the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and heals those who are crushed in spirit.
ok dear ms goh, i couldn't not cry. i must say i managed quite well during the wake, but i just couldn't help it once i got onto the train and wilder and charis had left too. somehow you did look peaceful, even though you were just lying motionless. and even though you looked so pale, and your face was a little swollen, you still look like the beautiful woman that you are in my eyes. i'm still thinking about you and your funny ways. "oxygen atom plus oxygen atom- DENG! oxygen molecule!" but most of all, i'm thinking of the time when you were so angry with us that you said if we went to your funeral, you would jump up and scold us. if only scolding us would keep you healthy and keep you alive, i'll take a million scoldings from you everyday. i know you are in a better place now, where you no longer feel the pain that was constantly with you while you were here. but yet, i can't help but think how unfair it was that you even had to suffer, and how i wish i could talk to you just one more time, face to face.
Dearest Ms Goh, today when Ms Ho told us that you were gone, i really couldn't believe, couldn't imagine it. my mind went completely blank. coz you're Ms Goh! the one who always had the strength to get up and come to school to teach, even on bad days. especially on bad days. (and it was on bad days that you smiled the most.) knowing that you had become a Catholic last easter was indeed a comforting thought, but there are so many things i wanted to say to you and never got a chance. i guess i always took it for granted, thinking that a thank you letter on teachers day wouldn't be quite as odd as one out of the blue. well i guess i won't be sending you a teachers day card after all. but i'd like to believe that somehow, you can still know my thoughts, can still see how thankful i am to you and for you. thank you miss Goh. thank you for teaching 3b3 chemistry. for putting all your efforts in despite your illness, even conducting remedial sessions during the holidays. thank you for never giving up on us, even when we achieved shameful grades of almost nothing upon 25 for tests. thank you for teaching us not only chemistry, but things like responsibility, punctuality, diligence and above all, sitting with our legs closed. thank you for never failing to see the good in people, for treating us to ice cream, for bringing little snacks for us during those long remedial sessions. thank you for the laughs, the jokes, the sighing and exclamations of "SUKU!" and "AS LAZY AS A WORM!" never forgetting your number one favourite word: "HALLO..." at the same time, i'm sorry. i'm sorry i never made that big an effort to make things easier for you. i'm sorry i didn't get that a1 in chem for sec 3 end of years. i'm sorry i never thanked you earlier. i remember once you asked me to walk you to the staff room from the LT because you were so afraid of the Bangla Men... you told me you were in a great deal of pain, but you told yourself to come to school, just so you could teach us, help us to get a firm foundation of chemistry. that point was the time when i began to see you in a new light, and i began to really admire you. people with such strength, such courage, and such a big heart like you have are rare, and i really do feel honoured to have known you and be taught by you. for sec 3 end of years, i only got 52%. i fully expected you to be disappointed in me; even i was disappointed in myself! yet you encouraged me, saying "good, good" and telling me to continue to work hard, believing always that i could do well for o level chem. well, Ms Goh, i'm not gonna let you down. i promise i'll work hard, i promise i'll do my best to get that a1. anything less doesn't reflect all you've done for me, all you've done for us. i really thank God for letting me know such an awesome woman as you. although i miss you, and i wish you were still here, i know that one day we're gonna meet again, and then i shall thank you in person. for now, as Shermaine says, you wouln't want me to cry. you'd want me to move on, to concentrate on studying for my prelims. well, i'm going to try ms Goh, but you know, forgetting about a person like you, is gonna be one of the hardest things i've ever done. thank you once again. much love, muriel
